Protocol Support
Questions, bugs, and how things work.
Include your iOS version and what you were doing when it happened. Never send lab results or personal health details by email — describe the behaviour instead.
Reminders
A reminder didn't fire
Check Settings → Reminders inside the app: it shows how many reminders are queued and the date they cover through. iOS allows any app a maximum of 64 pending notifications, so a dense protocol with a long horizon gets trimmed. The queue is rebuilt every time you open the app. If you have not opened Protocol for longer than your scheduling horizon, the queue will have run dry — open it and it refills immediately. Also confirm notifications are enabled in iOS Settings → Protocol.
I want fewer, further-out reminders
Turn off the follow-up nudge in Settings → Reminders. It doubles how many notifications each dose consumes, so switching it off roughly doubles your coverage.
Doses and schedules
My every-other-day schedule looks wrong
Interval schedules are anchored to the start date, not to today. Change the start date and the whole pattern shifts. The compound editor previews the next five doses — check it there before saving.
Syringe units aren't showing
The reconstitution calculator can only convert when the vial contents and the dose share a unit family. A vial measured in mg with a dose in mg or mcg works; a vial in IU with a dose in mg cannot be converted and the app will say so rather than guess.
I'm travelling
Settings → Travel shifts every dose time by the same amount so a protocol pinned to home hours follows you. Reminders move with it.
Labs
Pasting my results missed some markers
The parser is deliberately cautious — it would rather skip a line than import a wrong number. Anything it misses can be added by hand with + Add marker. If your lab uses an unusual name for something, email us the wording and we will add it.
What do trough, mid-cycle and near-peak mean?
Protocol knows your injection schedule, so it can work out where a blood draw sits in the dose cycle from the date and time you entered. Panels drawn in the last fifth of the interval are tagged trough. It matters because a trough reading and a peak reading are not comparable, and comparing them makes a trend look like something it isn't.
Purchases
Restoring on a new device
Settings → Subscription → Restore purchase, signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. Note that your protocol data does not transfer — it lives only on the old device. Export JSON from the old phone first.
Cancelling
Settings → Subscription → Manage, or iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling during the 7-day trial costs nothing. Lifetime purchases never renew and need no cancelling.
Data
Where is my data, and is it backed up?
On your iPhone only. There is no account and no cloud copy. If you delete the app, the data goes with it and cannot be recovered. Use Settings → Export as JSON to keep your own copy.
Scope
Will you add recommended protocols or doses?
No. Protocol records what you enter and does the arithmetic you ask for. It does not recommend compounds, doses or protocols, and it is not a substitute for a clinician.
